Field Notes

Description:

Deep pink flowers with a 3-lobed lip and a long spur. Flowers to be seen from June to August. Flower heads can be dense, conical or domed. The flowers in Ireland are more rich and intense in colours.
Pollination is by long-tongued butterflies and moths.

Habitat:

Local but common in Ireland on grassland, dry banks and sand dunes.

Yes, i googled for pictures, apparently the flower comes in different shape which doesn't make it easy to discern. I think it is the same, i shall update it, thank you for your help.
Thank you so much, I am not very good when it comes to flowers. I checked in a book, looks like it could be a pyramidal orchid.
