Field Notes

Description:

Small Tarantula (juvenile?) of about 3 cm body length, brown/grey coloration with two dark, round patches on the abdomen. The first segment of its legs was dark brown, followed by a red brown "knee" with the remaining segments being grey. I found several of these guys under rocks and logs; they had dug an access "tunnel", but nothing was lined with silk.

Habitat:

Forested areas in the Andes at about 2500 m above sea level.
