Field Notes

Description:

Large mammal often seen "bottling", with head over the water. Coat colour is blue-grey and show some irregular unique pattern of blotches and spots. Length between 2.5m and 3m.

Habitat:

Often seen in Howth harbour where they await to be fed when the fishermen return, but more common on the west coast of Ireland.

Notes:

North Bull Island, Dublin. Feeding and sunbathing at low tide.
