White (cream) donkey
Equus africanus asinus
47.7342, 16.767
Field Notes
Description:
They have blue eyes. Mama donkey took really care on the little one and watched me closely when I took the pics. :-)
Remarks from "lori.tas": Just some information in equine coat color genetics. First, true albinos would have pink eyes. White blue-eyed donkeys and horses are called 'creams'. Palominos are brown horses that have a gene that dilutes their coat pigment from brown to yellow. If a horse gets two copies (one from each parent) then they get a double dose of the dilution factor, which turns their brown coat to cream. Two cream parents will always produce a cream foal.
Habitat:
Natur reserve nearby the lake "Neusiedlersee" in Austria. In general this "typ" of donekey can be found very rarely in Europe.
Notes:
These donkeys are called "white donkeys" (on signs next to the field they live too), even if they have the colour "cream" in real.
These (white) donkey were very desired at the nobility in Europe during Barock times and specialy raised in Austrian Hungarian times. They were called "light bringer".
