Description:

At first glance, it looked like a grasshopper. However, it had very long antennae and wings that looked like leaves. And its underbelly was pinkish, not green.

Habitat:

Eating pollen of day lilies in my garden in the full sun.

Notes:

I think this is a type of katydid called a "false katydid."

When I walked by this day lily and looked down, the first thing I saw was the katydid's funny face looking up at me. It was so amusing that I went and grabbed my camera, hoping it would still be there eating, and it was. It posed for me for the longest time, even when I was moving around positioning myself at various levels and very close to get good shots.
