Field Notes

Description:

We´ve found this dead gray squirrel (about 30 cm) while our bike tour. Usually the gray squirrel isn´t common in this area, we use to see red squirrels (Sciurus vulgaris)
Now if I think of it, we haven´t seen them for a while now... :(

Habitat:

woods, gardens

thanks BillCarpenter! there were several fly sp. on the body, but only the bottle flies remained there when we approached.
well, it was quite big, a female, the trees weren´t big, young shrubs. I suppose it fell, or it could have had some kind of illness.
you have a good heart...maybe it is old age you think?
poor little fellow! did you give him a proper burial?
