Common Wood-nymph
Cercyonis pegala
45.6484, -121.722
Field Notes
Habitat:
I spotted these Common Wood-Nymphs in a meadow of Purpletop (Tridens flavus), Oregon White Oak trees (Quercus garryana), and on bushel of Knapweed (Centaurea).
Notes:
I can always spot a Common Wood-nymph from a mile away because of their distinctive flying pattern, which resembles a series of mini-jet propulsions.
