Field Notes

Description:

Two flies looking very different; the larger one (f?) is very similar, if not the same, as the previous spotting. The smaller one is probably about half the size and black all over.

Habitat:

These fell from a citrus leaf in a suburban back yard.

Yours look like Bibionidae too. Different species don't mix if that's what you mean. They are just exhibiting sexual dimorphism.

http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/31347020 not similar flies ,but a case of different type of flies mating. Flies were very slender and tiny almost the size of a grain of rice.
