Field Notes

Description:

Large dark brown moth, with tan bands with script like lines beyond the ST line. Large reniform spots, almost eye shaped (This is a Male)
Females are Tan with reddish area beyond the ST lines.

Habitat:

Spotted on a sheet hanging on my porch with black lights and halogens shining on it at night to attract moths. We live in a gated lake community surrounded by rural agricultural land, and some wooded areas.

Notes:

They shake when they feel they are threatened. It is very hard to photograph them, they are quite flighty.
