Field Notes

Description:

Papilionidae; Papilioninae; Papilionini; Papilio demoleus demoleus Linnaeus, 1758. (syn.) Papilio demoleus libanius Fruhstorfer, 1908. I only managed to take one decent picture as this butterfly was quite frenetic. In the second picture, its wings are blurred despite a 1/200th of a second shutter speed - that means that its wings were flapping at almost the speed of Humming Bird wings. The last picture just shows it escaping out of the frame, faster than I could push the camera button. Outsmarted again! :-)

Habitat:

Spotted visiting flowers in our front yard.
