Field Notes

Description:

Large brown deer. A Moose stands 1.4–2.1 m high at the shoulder. The head-and-body length is 2.4–3.2 m , with the vestigial tail adding only a further 5–12 cm.

Habitat:

At a lake near Millinocket,Maine, USA, early morning.

Notes:

We specifically went on an early morning canoeing trip in the hope to spot a Moose. Lucky us. As it was feeding on water plants, we did not want to come to close and disturb it (and I only had our waterproof dive camera with us)
We later spotted another one - see spotting- http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/663496007
