Description:

Amauris tartarea, the Monk or Dusky Friar, is a butterfly in the Nymphalidae family.

Habitat:

Seen while walking through a wild area at the back of UWEC Uganda Wildlife Education Center, on the shores of Lake Victoria.

Notes:

UWEC Uganda Wildlife Education Center is a voluntary organisation for conservation education and the rescue of animals orphaned or confiscated from poachers. It is based in Entebbe, on the shores of Lake Victoria.

Seriously Pam, if I could make my own clothes these butterflies and moths would be my inspiration. I would be the best looking Monk ever !!! added photos are great too..

I do have a black scarf with white polka dots. Now I need to look for a brown jacket with those pale grey patterns - just beautiful!
