Field Notes

Description:

The Rose is located in the Olds College Botanic Gardens and is planted in an area with other roses of the same species. This rose is standing approximately one foot tall, and only has two larger branches that are producing any foliage and one that currently has blooms.

Habitat:

The rose is grown in a bed that is covered by mulch. This particular rose was planted on august 19/14. There is another smaller rose bush standing south of this plant that also looks like it is not thriving. Roses are a hearty plant that can thrive in various climates and sunlight. This particular plant is situated in a place where it can have optimal space and sunlight.

Notes:

The common rose is for the majority, a durable plant. It also has some common pests that attack, and is prone to some disease. This particular plant looks like it could be suffering from several issues, one possible issue could be an aphid infestation.. Another issue that might be taking place could be a type of fungal disease that is affecting the plant.
