Field Notes

Description:

Red-rumped Parrots are medium-sized, slender parrots. The adult male is bright green, with a blue-green head, a red rump, and yellow shoulders and belly. The female is a duller, olive-green, with a green rump and faint yellow or light green scales on the belly. Young birds of both sexes are duller in colour (from Birds in Backyards)

Habitat:

I saw these two male parrots in a park in the suburb where I live. They are often seen on the ground looking for seeds to eat.

Notes:

This was my first ever sighting of this type of parrot so was quite exciting

Thank you Felix. I was just on my way home and saw them, and at first thought they were Rainbow Lorikeets which are very common. Just glad I decided to take a second look, and that I had my camera with me :-)
