Description:
A female hawk with three of her hatchlings on the roof of my house.
Hawks are very powerful birds. Their feet have sharp, curved talons for capturing prey, and their beaks are hooked near the end for biting and tearing flesh from their prey. They are very swift fliers, and some hawks can reach speeds of over 150 mph when diving for their prey.
Habitat:
They prefer habitats that are open, probably because it makes it easier for them to capture prey.
Notes:
After hatching, the hawks will be full grown in just 11 weeks!
