Pine Grosbeak

The winter of 2008 brought flocks of these birds, along with other far northern birds, south to Massachusetts. I spotted these feeding on crabapples on the University of Massachusetts campus in Amherst, MA. They were amazingly tame birds and I was able to approach them closely enough to photograph them without using a zoom lens.
