Field Notes

Description:

Dark brown with eye-like markings with orange rings. The "eye" is brilliantly blue...the orange ring around it makes it spectacular. Cream coloured spots on the forewing.

Habitat:

Government office in the heart of the city of Kolkata. On a bed of dying Gomphrena along with many Peacock Pansy butterflies.

Notes:

This butterfly has a wet and a dry season. This is the wet season form.
