Description:

This butterfly was one of a group of forest butterflies sucking up minerals from dung.

Habitat:

Seen on a small path quite deep into pre-montane tropical forest. Last photo shows the habitat.

Species ID Suggestions

This has a strong metallic blue band on the top-side. These hind-wings are termed 'crenulate' meaning wavy, rather than tailed. Not having much luck with the others Pam Africa is not my strong suit. You've opened a can of worms, which is not a bad analogy when you consider what they are eating.
Charaxes have tiny tails. This is Preopna. They are complex too :)
