Field Notes

Description:

Most widespread monkey in northern India. Fearless and mischievous.

Habitat:

urban, scrub and forest

Notes:

I spotted these monkeys all over the city of Varanasi. One day I came back to my hotel room after wandering around the city. I left my window open but it had bars on it and I was on the second floor. I was surprised to see some of my guavas missing. I later figured out that a young rhesus macaque came into my room and stole my fruit!

Good comment..explaining attitude of these animals..Nice funny way...!!
They do look like a few peeping toms! I agree Gina, the children would rather watch football or being in India, cricket but if I know monkeys, I think they would rather watch the Food channel!
They are trying to share a TV with the neighbor watching National Geographic Adventure! The children were not so interested at all they rather watch football!
These guys are very clever... What are they doing? Spying?
Hahaha.... Peeping Toms... (:O)
