Field Notes

Description:

Breeds in the interior of Oregon and california after which it heads to the coast before beginning it's southward migration. It is smaller than the Anna's which is somewhat resembles, with a stockier head and no apparent neck

Hybrids between costae and anna's are not uncommon

Notes:

This bird and presumably its mate(and I think at least one other male) generally spend most of July and part of august at our house. The female has a much cleaner front than the Anna's female. I suspect this particular male is a hyrbid.
