Field Notes

Description:

Photo is of a frass covered silk tube. One end of the tube is in a small (ca 3 mm) hole in the bole of a snag, and there is a larvae in the tube in the hole. The larvae is dark colored. The other end is open. There are numerous of these on a snag bole at about 1 - 2 m above the ground. None were observed on adjacent live trees.

Habitat:

Secondary forest, drier than the nearby Monteverde rainforest.
