Description:
Burrowing species, come on the surface for mating. Local people said that it can only be found from undisturbed soil. The specimen found by my father after ploughing a land which was covered by bamboos ( perished after flowering) for agricultural purposes. Found from IDUKKI district of Kerala state. Due to its appearance often mistaken as balloon frog. Distinguishing feature is its pointed mouth and small eyes. My parents said that they found these frogs many times even before 90s, but now seen very rarely.
