Description:

Small, compact duck with a stout, scoop-shaped bill, and a long, stiff tail. Females and first-year males are brownish, somewhat like winter males but with a blurry stripe across the pale cheek patch.

Habitat:

Spotted in the Reservoir, Central Park, New York.
