Field Notes

Description:

Menemerus bivittatus (possible juvenile?). About one week ago, I uploaded a spotting featuring a Menemerus bivittatus female - https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/237798412. I am sure that the identification in that spotting is correct and I feel generally familiar with the species, to the extent that I can recognize adult males and females by their distinctive markings and their "dorsoventrally flattened" shape. However, identifying juveniles of this species is a little more difficult and I am not so confident in my ability to recognize them. Wikipedia and the University of Florida both mention that immatures resemble adult females. This is a problem, because no images are shown by either website to illustrate this "resemblance'. I think that the specimen in my photos bears some resemblance to an adult female M. bivittatus, but I cannot be sure that I am right.

Habitat:

This Jumping Spider was spotted this afternoon on the stem of a young Papaya in our front garden.

Notes:

I would appreciate some help concerning the ID of this spider, either to confirm that it is correct, or to point me in the right direction if I have it wrong. Thanks.
