Field Notes

Description:

These are fire ants! They attack silently with a vicious bite!Could someone fill me in on the reason for some larger ones having wings?

Habitat:

Fields and yards of the southern states of the US.Are they present in other places as well?

Notes:

A thump or vibration to their nest area...such as someone walking on or near them...and out come the army of "REDNECK SECURITY"...when you are in your own yard you know where to step!
