Field Notes

Description:

foamy egg-mass looking thing, off-white. If you stretched it out, I'd guess it could reach 2-3inches. it was deposited into a mint leaf that way maybe 3/4inch. No nearby larvae or spread to guess what it might be.

Habitat:

mint plant. West central ga

Notes:

I put arthropod because this looks like some sort of egg sac, but I have no idea what this is.

Wow...that's so cool. Great spotting momsavang! Thank you for sharing :)
No problem, Last year in the winter I saw the same thing on my Stinging nettle plant, then I was curious to figure out what it was.
that is SO wild Ornithoptera! Thank you so much. I've been googling and never would have thought that was the end result!
I recognize this before. It is actually a caterpillar which has been parasitized by wasps, (Family Encyrtidae). https://teara.govt.nz/en/photograph/11144/caterpillar-with-wasp-larvae
