Field Notes

Description:

A couple greater roadrunners, I was surprised to see these in Kansas but looking at their range the great runner just barely eeks into Southeast Kansas. I wish I had a better phone camera for farther away shots, as you can't see the beautiful white mottling in their feathers or blue faces at all. If I'm ever in the desert and see these again I'll be sure to have a better camera. Apologies for the poor quality spotting y'all.

Habitat:

Found throughout the Southwest US into Mexico. Contrasted to the lesser roadrunner, which is not in the US at all.

Notes:

If you're curious, road runners can fly and their wings spread out is beautiful. Go google it.
