Field Notes

Description:

found this solitary fungus on a piece of rotting eucalyptus camaldulensis, the underside of the ovate cap has gills unable to ascertain how they attached. The closest species I can find is Panaeolus papilionaceus, we do have horse manure in the garden which this species favours.

Habitat:

rotting eucalyptus camaldulensis

Notes:

Panaeolus papilionaceus caps are 40mm ( which is about the size of this specimen) ovate cap, gills dark (which these were) Gregarious (this was solitary) on herbivore dung.
