I was on the breakwater at Warnambool photographing racehorses on the beach, when I looked down and saw these two little guys around 35-40 feet away, flittering around on the jetty. I suspect that they were after small insects. I only had time to get 3 shots before they flew off. It was bitterly cold, around 6:30-7am.
Can you tell us a bit about what they seemed to be doing. They look a little like finch beaks to me.
It looks like some kind of a bluebird but typically the rust colored part does not come up on to the face.
