Field Notes

Description:

A very restless bird with a distinctly visible white eye brow. Usually seen around with other insect eating birds. The adult White-throated Fantail is about 19 cm long. It has a dark fan-shaped tail, edged in white, and white supercilium and throat. There is otherwise much variation in plumage between races. The White-throated Fantail is insectivorous, and often fans its tail as it moves through the undergrowth.

Habitat:

Green and dense forests.

Notes:

The earlier pics were from Kanha National Park, but were clumsy so uploaded pics from a spotting in Mumbai to the same spotting.

Edited and uploaded some clearer pics form today's spotting. The last few shots are clumsy, but show the behavior of the "fan-tail".
