Field Notes

Description:

This is the most common ladybird species in Europe. Easily recognised by the unmistakable seven black spots on spots across the red wing case and black head with four white eye-spots. In the UK there is concern that the harlequin ladybird is out-competing the charismatic seven-spot (wiki).
