Field Notes

Description:

3 layers of protection for the beach. The lowest grasses will cut human legs easily. The grasses on the dunes are Sea Oats. Then there are some Pine trees that are adapted to the beach. They have little if any green on the lower trunks to allow for water rising and salty winds.

Habitat:

Gulf Coast beaches, salt water. South of Highway 98.

Notes:

Just about every major hurricane knocks out the power lines running along the Highway 98.
