They taste terrific this way in my opinion.. the sugary end is not to my liking.. Its not just me.. a lot of folks did the same with them..its a season extender!! hahaha.. Ever try young green almonds? Same thing.. they taste a bit bitter, but we used to eat them raw with salt on them.. the actual almond is still liquid inside a thin skin.. the green on the outside is the shell that dries off and opens up prior to picking.. The trees are actuall closely related to the plum, peach and apricot trees and we regularly graft them for those fruit trees..cheeper thatn to buy the actual fruit tree.. Nick
Thank you, Nick - you're right, I tasted one of 'em and they were already okay...but there's more sweetness to come ;) ....as long as the sun would come out (which it doesn't this summer as it seems here in Germany)
They can be eaten this early. They taste a bit sour, but the hint of the sugary future is there.. We have so many in Greece at my Mother's home that we go at them early.. Nice photo.. Nick
