Field Notes

Description:

This crab climbed up onto a dock piling at night. Artificial light used. It did not like the flash at all! This crab is able to climb trees and other wooden surfaces. It is an omnivore, feeding on both plant and animal material among the mangroves.

Habitat:

Mangroves in tropical and subtropical Americas. This one was spotted on the FL gulf coast (tropical south).
