Description:

This caterpillar has red pinstripes and pointy ears.

Habitat:

On Red Box Eucalyptus.

Young larvae of Paralaea have brighter lateral stripes according to this link. http://lepidoptera.butterflyhouse.com.au/enno/porphyr.html Therefore I am going with this genus.

Thanks Mark. Thanks Chief. I was thinking of Paralaea which is the species I found last season. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/38664364 http://lepidoptera.butterflyhouse.com.au/enno/atralba.html I cannot see a match in either genus.

Thanks magazhu Thanks Mark. I have not tried yet. I tried to ID similar ones last year and found it difficult. They have threads and slide down to the ground when disturbed. Strange creatures.
