Description:

I thought at first this might be a Monarch but just seen the post on the viceroy and now am leaning towards Viceroy. Can someone confirm?

Habitat:

Edge of wooded area in tall grass near a small ditch in South Louisiana.

Ahh I see what your are talking about. Very subtle difference the hind wing and it was only about 3 inches. Thanks!

the best way to tell is the size he Monarch is bigger than the Viceroy
I could be wrong, but I think the spots on its body are indicative of a Monarch.
