Description:

Medium sized water bird with black feathers. It has a red eye, eye ring and pink legs. It has a long, straight beak, which is also red.

Habitat:

Along the coast. Photographed here on the rocky coast of Montague Island, New South Wales

@ Alice.. We have a few different varieties here also, I have photo of some pied Oyster Catchers that I took the following day.
Like your picture. I remember seeing Oyster catchers while we were in the Netherlands, but not the sooty variety.
