sarah, i think it looks like boat tailed...not sure though someone needs to second that for me.
I've only seen birds feed their young on TV. I've never seen it done on the ground. I see your comment but I thought it looked like a squabble. Take a look and see what you think. The eye line and eye color seem to be key. http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/browse.aspx?shape=2,23

Susan, I think you might have 2 different kinds of grackle in this picture. The one on the left might be a great-tailed grackle (the eye looks yellow). The one on the right is a boat -tailed grackle. Both are female.
Hi Noe & Pili, I can't tell you what they were eating...did not get that close..afraid they might take off...I just witnessed them feeding...the food is most probably they found on the ground.
Great series! Susan, could you tell us what are they eating?
