When we lived in Idaho my wife produced greens from a greenhouse and predators like this and lady birds could be ordered through the mail.
Thanks - we have a semi-wild area where they are sometimes spotted. We get small ones in the house sometimes - even they try to pinch - the larger ones latch on. Children seem to like to find grasshoppers for them (gentle creatures).
Thanks Latimeria - corrected as per your suggestion
It looks more like a Chinese mantis to me. They grow to be quite large, while the European mantis grows to only around 3 inches.
