Field Notes

Description:

The wing spread is 1.75 to 2.40 inches (Daniels 2003). The upper-side of the wings is brown with a median row of yellowish-gold spots on the forewing that is also visible from beneath. The wing fringe is dashed with white. The under-side of the wings is brown with a large median irregular-shaped white patch on each wing and a short rounded tail.

Habitat:

Found throughout most of the United States and into southern Canada
