Field Notes

Description:

Is a fly with colors like those of a wasp. It has a particular flat but wide abdomen, round and oval in shape, which makes it a curious and funny sight.

Habitat:

Flowers near marshes and a lake. Slow flying denizen of wetlands. Stratiomys larvae live in wet mud around pools, canals and marshes. Until recent years it has been considered a rare fly, but it appears to have increased in numbers.

Notes:

University campus Kortowo-Olsztyn.
