This is bigger family...need to find with Bug guide and Google image search. Chrome is best search engine.
I found a similar moth, but not quite: the Orgyia leucostigma, the White-marked tussock moth http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White-marked_tussock_moth. I'll keep searching in the Orgyia genus. Thanks Ashish.
Lymantriidae family moth caterpillar...As you mentioned Ian.
