Field Notes

Description:

Blue/green conifer tree or plant with uniform color all over including smooth trunk. Mast shaped tree with opposite compound leaves. Small shoots come off the limbs in opposite bud structure. Very fast grower, currently 4 yards high. This tree finally blossomed for the first time in Jan 2013. This means that it took 3 years before it bloomed.

Habitat:

Backyard. It was not planted but it sprouted up. We were curious what it was so we let it grow.

Updated spotting. It finally bloomed after 3 years (18 months after submitting this spotting).

Hi Karen, it is a cool tree! It's been 3 1/2 months since I posted this spotting and it hasn't changed at all. No flowering, it is staying like the first image.

That's it! I've never seen it in bloom so I can't confirm the yellow flowers but the rest is right on! Thank you Scott.

Thank you Karen. It does look like an acacia. I've been unsuccessful locating the species but I won't give up :)
