Field Notes

Description:

This mushroom head was 4 inch diameter light brown mushroom that had a bit of a floppy hat kind of look to it, or a shriveled peach skin. It was not round like most mushrooms I've seen but a little bit pointy on top.
Underneath it was a dark brown-black gills in a circle around the stem. It was about 3 or 4 inches tall.

Habitat:

I saw these after a weekend of torrential rain, at the Taco Bell near the Bates House of Turkey in Greenville, Alabama. They were at the back of the parking lot, behind the dumpster in the grass. The grass was recently mowed, but this was one of two mushroom types I saw there. It was dry on top.
