Field Notes

Description:

Giraffes are nearly 2m in height when born and males can reach a height of more than 5m when fully grown. They have excellent eyesight and are capable of spotting a human 2km away. Giraffes walk moving the legs on the same side of the body simultaneously and can run up to 60km/h when being pursued.

Poaching for the giraffe’s pelt, meat and tail has significantly reduced the wild population.

Habitat:

Savannah

Thanks for sharing the link, Susan. It's so cute! I was a good 10-15m away from my subjects

Thanks, Susan. So many people show photos of their whole body but I reckon their faces are the most interesting. They make me laugh
