White bird with gray wings. The beak is yellow with an orange spot on the bottom toward the tip.

Cindy, thanks for starting the SoCal mission! We don't have great black back gulls on the west coast. They are an Atlantic gull. This guy is a Western Gull (Larus occidentalis).
