Description:

The white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus), also known as the Virginia deer or simply as the whitetail, is a medium-sized deer native to the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America, and South America as far south as Peru.

Saw this deer on a track in a mountainous rainforest area between San Isidro de la General and Dominical in Costa Rica.

Hi Pam! Costa Rica has 2 species of deer: the white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus), and the red brocket (Mazama americana). I'm unsure as to which one this is. I hope someone else can help further!
