Field Notes

Description:

This Lichen was quite thick, and covered large patches of several trees. It appeared to have a pale green-blue outer ring fading to a yellow ring then a tan-brown center ring then no ring at all in the center. A few appeared to be growing on themselves.

Habitat:

There were other Lichen spottings in the area with bright pink on the edges. This is a brown-water creek, quick flowing at the time the picture was taken because of storm runoff adding to the spring. It's a marsh and a sandy bottom creek with lots of black muck in spots and lots of soft sand in others.
