Description:

Small scorpion, length up to 3.5cm.

Notes:

Luckily, perhaps, this one was dead, but it still gave me a surprise when I went to pick up a pile of leaves and saw it!

Thanks for the info, it's good to know they're not lethal, but still it's good to be cautious! It was also much darker than a common yellow scorpion. I have seen those around as well.
It is venomous but its toxicity varies markedly across its range. The sting in Europe is painful but with mild toxic effects but in Africa can be fatal. Usually lives under stones. Its sting is painful and can dangerous to infants.
