Field Notes

Description:

This four inch larvae is beautifully banded with black and yellow and has an orange/red head and false head. It has large orange/red feet and a spike on the tail.

Habitat:

Miami, Florida

Notes:

I have never been fortunate enough to have come across this species until now. We literally crossed paths on my garden pathway. I'm not certain what host plant it is searching for as it was traveling when we met. I'm currently trying to identify the species so that I can share with my kids and my students. Any help is appreciated. :)
